Top 5 Healthy Places To Eat In Bali

14 November 2015

Bali oh Bali – a paradise for surfers, divers, yogis and more. While the town of Kuta is famous for its party and nightlife, the north and northeast for its diving, the town of Ubud is the place to be for visitors who are looking for a healthy getaway.

Countless yoga centres, spas and healthy living places; Ubud makes the heart of every health enthusiast beat just a little bit faster. But another thing that the health-conscious would appreciate is the variety of food available to suit all dietary needs. Here are my top five picks:

The Kafe

The Kafe was the first place that was introduced to me by friends five years ago. It offers healthy meals that cater for the raw-vegan, gluten-free and at the same time regular eaters too. So you can find not only oatmeal, buckwheat pancakes, salads, raw vegan cakes but also regular coffees, curries and more. This makes it the ideal place for a group or friends with different dietary needs. At the same time the comfy interior and great (and fast! – which is unusual in Ubud) internet connection makes it a great place to work as well. On top of that, it is in a pretty central part of town which makes it easy to visit in between other tasks during your day.

Sari Organik

This is the dream place for visitors who want to relax and disconnect. In the middle of rice paddy fields and only reachable via a 15-minute walk (and recently wifi), this place offers pure serenity. You can order various dishes (regular, vegetarian or even vegan) which are prepared with ingredients from their own organic farm. The Living Food Lab

This restaurant has two outlets: the famous Green School (sustainable school for kids) and Hubud, a collaborative work space with really fast internet. Offering mostly raw-vegan dishes, you can expect great salads, raw-vegan wraps, cakes or simply some kale chips with smoothies. blog-livingfoodlab.jpg

One of the oldest healthy eating places in Ubud, they offer beautiful seating around an atrium with beautiful flora (you can see this place has been there for a long time). The menu is extensive and caters for raw-vegan, vegan and vegetarian diets made from organic and local produce. It is a place of serenity in the centre of town; a completely unexpected and pleasant surprise upon stepping in.

This is my go-to destination for raw-vegan delights. 100% raw vegan, they offer a breakfast buffet in the morning, salad buffet for the rest of the day and fresh juices, smoothies and raw-vegan sweets all day long. Great and super tasty creations!
