Somewhere in between a muffin and banana cake, these tea cakes are delish and healthy.
Bananas are not just healthy snacks. They help promote weight loss (a 6-inch banana is a mere 90 calories) are rich in fiber and keeps you full for longer. Eating bananas helps regulate your bowel movement, again, thanks to its high fiber content. Famed for its potassium value, consuming bananas help prevent muscle cramps. When you eat bananas, you'll find your mood elevated for the better as they are packed with tryptophan which is converted to serotonin, the happy hormone. Not only that, bananas are natural antacids, providing relief for acid reflux and heartburn.
I make these cakes whenever I’m left with way too many ripe bananas. It’s refined sugar-free and is a baked goodie that’s nutty, toasty and comfy for a morning or evening tea with friends. It also works great as a pre-workout snack. The kids will love this, too!
Nutty-Banana-Choc Tea Cakes
- 1 cup oats
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- A few tablespoons almond milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon maca powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons pure peanut butter
- A handful dried cranberries
- A handful roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
- Some 80% dark chocolate, roughly chopped
- A pinch of sea salt
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Mix all ingredients and scoop mixture into a muffin pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Let the cakes cool before serving.
Note: Please adjust the ingredients accordingly if the mixture is too soft. It should hold like a thick cake batter.
