The healthy dining scene in Kuala Lumpur is on an upward turn with certain eateries spearheading a mini revolution with innovative plant-based cuisine, sustainable practises and the use of local, organic produce. We visited one of our favourite restaurants and had a chat with founders Victor Yap and Su Mei Lim, who value wholesome nutrition as much as we do.

As vegetarianism and veganism become more mainstream, eateries are picking up their healthy eating game and realise GF, keto, dairy-free and raw vegan must be included in their culinary repertoire. Fittie Sense was a pioneer in the flexitarian way of eating. Far from being some sort of fad, flexitarianism is here to stay and the most logical way of eating if you don’t want to completely give up meat and dairy. Fittie Sense’s menu is clearly categorised according to diet type from vegan and vegetarian to keto and omnivore. Whole grains and quinoa form the base of many of their dishes and there aren’t many places that offer equally delicious vegan and keto meals on one menu. Kombucha, kefir sodas and milk kefir-based smoothies are proof that gut health is taken seriously here.

Besides menu staples, there’s a daily special that can be keto beef rendang one day and vegan Moussaka the next. Desserts are wheat-free and baked without white flour and refined sugar, and using natural ingredients like raw cane sugar, coconut oil, almond meal, polenta and coconut flour. End your meal with their selection of organic coffees, chai lattes, and turmeric or beetroot latte.
