Fittie Sense

Located in Bangsar, this great little restaurant offers a menu encompassing all diets. It’s a good option for flexitarians and every menu item is labelled accordingly – vegan / vegetarian, low-carb, Paleo / keto / diabetic friendly.

The menu comprises wholesome mains like the grilled Harissa Salmon with a choice of Cauliflower Rice or Millet-Quinoa Pilaf; and hearty salads with unique combinations like the Levantine with Lebanese Slaw, Cauliflower Tabbouleh, Marinated Beetroot and Sumac Salsa. For dessert there are cakes made mostly with almond meal and coconut flour, and homemade nice-cream (no dairy).

This Ramadan, Fittie Sense has created iftar meal boxes packed with tasty goodness – Harissa Chicken Kebabs, Basmati Rice Pilaf, Lebanese slaw and a Date Coconut Granola Energy Ball for RM29 – a good alternative to the usual all-you-can-eat buffet.

La Juiceria Superfoods Signature

It started out as the place to get your juice fix, but La Juiceria has become a healthy food chain where you can go for brunch with the family, lunch meetings or after the gym, and know you’re getting a nutritious meal.

The Superfoods Signature outlet in Bangsar doesn’t only look cool; it serves super bowls, tasty brunch items (the mashed avocado or sweet potato on toast is the right way to start the weekend), wraps, smoothie bowls and build-your-own salads.

It’s easy to find vegetarian and vegan options; and dessert is almost guilt-free with their raw slices and famous gluten-free chocolate cake. Coffee is the trademark of a successful café and their turmeric, matcha and black sesame Lattes are well worth a try plus you get a choice of milks with soy and homemade almond for those off dairy. Parents – there’s a play area so you can dine in peace!

LN Fortunate Coffee

They call themselves a ‘100% plant-based café’ and have built up a substantial following with vegetarians and vegans. Located in Mont Kiara, their baked goods and ice cream are dairy-free and made with natural ingredients. If you’re looking for vegan cakes that look (and taste) amazing and wholesome bread, this is the place. The menu has a selection of local and western dishes with no garlic or onion used so you get the real taste of the food.

Choose from salads, burgers (the charcoal burger with homemade sourdough bun and vegetable patty comes highly recommended), pasta, nasi lemak, curry vermicelli, build-your-own-sandwiches and pizza. Only brown rice and noodles are used and the bread and pizza bases are made fresh on premise. Coffee is taken seriously with their unique 3 In The Afternoon concoction being a favourite.

RGB @ The Bean Hive

The quirkily named café was one of the first to truly embrace healthy food culture and prides itself on serving organic, gluten-free vegetarian and vegan fare. Coffee is another of their strengths and they roast their own imported coffee beans, which you can buy to brew the perfect cup at home. Located in a bungalow in the city, there’s space for the kids to roam around and a fantastic venue for events.

Try the Vegan Big Breakfast with Scrambled Tofu, Roast US and Sweet Potato Hash, Toast and Baked Beans; Mcbrocolli Burger made with almonds, mushrooms, cheese and broccoli and freshly made waffles, cake and ice cream. The Ganga Café

If vegetarian Indian food is your culinary weakness, then you’ve probably been to Ganga many times. Their extensive menu and very reasonably priced Sunday buffet keeps diners returning. The owners are passionate about using fresh local produce and making food using trusted recipes so that it tastes as homemade as possible.

Ganga’s flatbread selection is impressive ranging from naan and thosai to paratha and roti canai. A healthier option is the chapattis made from atta (durum wheat) flour and there’s a gluten-free option made from millet.

Their thali (metal platter) meals are very good value comprising the perfect vegetarian / vegan combination brown rice, vegetables and dhal.  And while you’re scoffing all this food down, have their famous Pranic Juice, which is a refreshing combination of mint, lemon, lime, ginger, cumin, pepper and soda water.
