Our Favourite Yoga Studios Around Kuala Lumpur

11 October 2019

Regardless of where you are in your yoga journey, where you practice will have an impact on that journey.

Naturally, beginners may feel more comfortable practising at home but eventually, some support will be necessary to avoid misalignment and injuries. As for advanced practitioners, of course, an added push will always be appreciated to deepen and further the practice.

So, here is a list of yoga studios around hotspots within Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur) and Selangor. These studios cater to all levels, with most focusing not only on the physical but also on the mind through meditative practices or workshops.

Oscillation, Kuala Lumpur

If you’ve been toying with the idea of inversions then Oscillation is the place for you, specifically the Inverted Strength Flow class; this class teaches you everything you need to know about headstands, handstands, and forearm stands, laying the foundation for Insta worthy shots. Even advanced practitioners can benefit from the Inverted Strength Flow class as it also focuses on understanding body alignment and understanding how to fall.

Address: Floor 2A, Grand Millennium, 160 Bukit Bintang Street, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur)

The Flow Studio, Bangsar

Life is about balance and the Chill Flow class at The Flow Studio embodies that sentiment; the class is neither yin (slow-paced and relaxing) nor yang (fast-paced and intense), it’s just in between the two. So if you’re a beginner, the Chill Flow class would be a good introduction to yoga whereas if you’re an advanced practitioner, it’ll be a good opportunity to chill - after all, yoga is about balance, too.

Address: 7, Jalan Riong, Bangsar, 59100 Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur)

Hot Yo Studio, Hartamas

Hot Yo Studio was the first yoga studio in Kuala Lumpur to introduce heated yoga classes so of course, it’s the place to go if you want the heated experience in its entirety. Through the use of infrared technology, the studio will be heated up to 36°C - the perfect temperature to sweat and detoxify without feeling faint! The heated Strala Flow class is recommended for beginners and advanced practitioners as it embraces the freedom of movement, meaning it encourages practitioners to connect with their body intuitively and independently.

Address: Jalan 24/70a, 26-2 & 28-2, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur)

Prana Yoga, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Even if you’re an advanced practitioner, practising the traditional style of yoga at least once is mandatory as to really understand and appreciate the ancient art. At Prana Yoga, you can do just that with the Hatha Mysore class; beginners would also like the class as it emphasises taking it at your own pace. Bonus: if you’re a mum to be, Prana Yoga offers pre-natal and post-natal yoga classes, too!

Address: Unit 2.3, 2nd Floor, Pusat Kreatif Kanak Kanak Tuanku Bainun, 48 Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 60000 Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur)

OhanaJo, Desapark City

With the intention to be a co-healing space, OhanaJo focuses specifically on sound healing which is incorporated into almost every yoga class. For those that have never experienced a sound bath, know that it will be performed mainly through the use of (crystal) singing bowls. The Art of Self-Care & Sound Healing class would be an ideal introduction into the world of sound healing; this class also includes some yoga to start and a writing practice revolving around self-care.

Address: 15-1, Jalan Daun Inai 21, Sunway Spk Damansara, 52200 Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur)

Manasa Yoga, Petaling Jaya

Every Thursday, it’s all about the props at Manasa Yoga. The three classes that day are even titled All About The Props! If you’re a beginner, the use of props will definitely help you and if you’re an advanced practitioner, expect to deepen your practice by holding advanced postures for longer with the help of props.

Yoga One That I Want, Shah Alam

If you’re searching for a yoga class that's outside the box of typical styles, Yoga One That I Want offers Vikasa Flow classes; this class merges the traditional Hatha style of yoga with dynamic exercises from various fitness disciplines. If you’re a beginner or an advanced practitioner, mixing it up with Vikasa might just be what you need!
